EMDR for Trauma & Body Image and Other Problems

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.

EMDR is a well researched therapeutic modality used to treat trauma and PTSD among other challenging issues like negative body image and eating and substance use disorders.

It is a practical treatment that seeks to replicate the kind of thinking your brain should have gone through after a traumatic event. By replicating these thinking patterns EMDR helps your brain to make sense of those things that you may call “triggers,” and packs them away in your memory where they belong - as part of a story that has a beginning middle AND an end.

After EMDR many people report that that the memories of traumatic events are no longer upsetting.  Most often they also lose those unpleasant responses they may have experienced from, “triggers.”

Most importantly EMDR helps resolve past issues so they do no longer impact your day-to-day living.
